چکیده
Abstract In Finland, the earliest remains of a Christian church and cemetery date to Late Iron Age (800–1150/1300 AD) have been excavated in Ravattula Ristimäki, Kaarina, southwestern Finland. this study, seven assumingly plant fibre textile samples from individual inhumation graves were analysed identify their materials. The aim study was investigate possibilities identifying archaeological using three-stage procedure by observing surface characteristics, microfibrillar orientation cross section fibres via transmitted light microscopy (TLM). identification process based on such TLM characterisation. Additionally, parts studied with X-ray microtomography (micro-CT) wide-angle scattering (WAXS) test methods research bast textiles. Both flax nettle found samples, indicating preference for these two plants

The study of biological structures at different scales and resolution levels requires the use of imaging methods that are appropriate for each level of analysis. As recently reviewed in this journal (Volume 172, Issue 2 (2010)), the use of multiple, correlated methods is a powerful way to extend the analytical properties of each individual technique, normally resulting in more informative insig...

X-ray spectro-microscopy of complex materials and surfaces
The detailed understanding of complex materials used in information technology requires the use of state-of-the-art experimental techniques that provide information on the electronic and magnetic properties of the materials. The increasing miniaturization of components furthermore demands the use of techniques with spatial resolution down to the nanometer range. A means to satisfy both requirem...

Actinide materials demonstrate a wide variety of interesting physical properties in both bulk and nanoscale form. To better understand these materials, a broad array of microscopy techniques have been employed, including transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS), high-angle annular dark-field imaging (HAADF), sc...

A kraft paper mill produces a steady waste stream of reacted inorganic chemicals and organic wastes called black liquor. Both monetary and environmental concerns demand that the inorganic chemicals and the organic byproducts are recycled. Currently recovery boilers are the standard means to recycle the inorganic chemicals and organic waste to produce a large fraction of the energy needed to ope...
